I've decided to occasionally feature one of my photos - kind of a 'best of' listing for some of my favorites. The first one that I've chosen is Teton Stream, which is from my trip to the Grand Tetons in June of 07. There will be many more to follow!

I've been very busy over the last few weeks with a bunch of weddings, and the resulting late nights of editing photos. I decided to dedicate some time to finding a way to streamline my workflow, and I ended up signing up with a partner to create my new gallery site, Photos.kaz-photos.com! Check it out - I'm going to be adding content to it over the next few days, every chance I get. I'll have a mix of my Wedding and Landscape photos on here - but it's fully searchable, so you should be able to find what you're looking for pretty quickly.

Bishop Fallon 50th Reunion

I recently photographed the 50th reunion of Bishop Fallon High school, class of '58. It seemed that everybody had a good time - they even had one of their old teachers there, which blew my mind!It was quite a bit of fun to photograph my first event that wasn't a wedding or hockey game. In order to improve my portraiture, I've started to get into studio lighting. I just picked up an Alien Bees 1600 strobe for my home studio, and I spent some time today playing around with off-camera lighting, now that I can use a PC-sync cable and actually use a strobe. It was pretty fun - check out the pics!

I sure have been shooting a bunch of these lately! Today's game was pretty fun - a hat trick and a tie game! It got pretty exciting - these kids are definitely advancing!

May 25th Spring house game

The Spring House team had another game yesterday, and I went along to practice. Shooting with available light has been made easier by the 35-100 F2.0, but I think I may have to rig something up with remote flashes. They're not cheap, but I'd get much better results.

We had a game tonight and I took a few pics afterwards. Lighting at Holiday and Leisure is pretty drab, and it's tough to get good exposures without flash. Some of them came out pretty good though - check them out.

Buffalo Central Terminal / Dyngus Day

I'm going to be shooting a wedding in the central terminal at the end of August, so I went there this evening to meet up with the bride and groom, check things out, see how lighting would be, and so on. It was a pretty good time, and a lot more crowded than I thought it would be! Please check out the photos and let me know what you think.

Roadrunners Youth Hockey game

I was able to photograph the Roadrunners youth hockey game yesterday - very cute kids, and it reminded me of my own days in youth hockey. Freezing at 5 AM practices, not really knowing what to do until the coach tells you, that kind of stuff.

New Child portaits

Just yesterday I had a shoot with two lovely and lively children - It was quite a fun experience! One of them hammed it up whenever I pointed the camera at him, and the other wasn't really having that great a day. :) We did capture some pretty good moments, though!

Buffalo's new baby tigers

The Buffalo zoo was fortunate enough to have two baby Amur tigers born in captivity - Thyme and Warner. They are, obviously enough, sponsored by Time-Warner. I didn't know animals could be sponsored like Carubba Collission, but whatever- they are CUTE! Let me know what you think of the photos.

New Digs, new Studio!

So, I haven't been posting very much at all. But there's a good reason for it! My girlfriend and I are buying a new house - this new house has a room that is perfect for a studio!! So, in a month or two I should have a workable studio for portraiture and general photo work. I really can't wait for it - In fact, the first person to contact me regarding this post gets a free portrait session! I'm going to need to break in the new studio. :)

NHL Winter Classic

I went to the Sabres/Penguins Winter Classic today - COLD as heck but it was pretty fun! My seats were some of the 'obstructed view' ones, so I wasn't really to get a great angle on anything... But hey! Outdoor Sabres Game!!! Enjoy.

New Flash toy

For the holidays, I recieved a Gary Fong lightsphere, which has modified the quality of my flash photography - portraits and group shots have taken on a whole new atmosphere. I'll be heading back to the Botanical gardens soon to try out some flower shots with the new flash device as well!

Sabres game!

I was lucky enough to go to a Sabres game this evening. I read on Sabres.com that cameras of any size are allowed as long as you don't bother your neighbors, so I grabbed my E3 and 50-200mm and off I went! I was in section 121 for most of the game, looking downice. My friends Kerri and Nicole turned out to be at the game, and had seats right at the glass - so I was able to sneak in and get some really close, ice-level shots near the end.

Sue and I took the dog to agility training tonight, and it was the perfect opportunity to play with my newest toy! I shot a ton of photos in a relatively dimly lit room without the aid of a flash - it was a lot of fun, and was good practice. Here are the photos!

New Camera

I'm a die-hard user of the Olympus E-series of cameras. My first DSLR was the Olympus E-500, and I upgraded that to the Olympus E-510 the day I left for my Grand Teton trip. Just 24 hours ago I got the Olympus E-3, which is a weather-sealed, hardcore, expensive pro-level DSLR. I took it to the Buffalo Botanical Gardens this afternoon - click here for my first shots with it. I'm sure to get better as I gain experience with the camera.
